Mrs Browning is coming to see me in a day or two dearest Mrs Trollope, (Ah! how I wish you were coming too!) & although she will not perhaps get to Florence for some months, yet that being her ultimate destination I shall entrust her with this written proof that I have not forgotten so old & valued a friend, & that I was charmed more than I can tell by your delightful letter– …

I have waited in vain for Mrs Browning dearest Mrs Trollope & it is now (Sept. 24th) three months since the first pages of this letter were written. … I am still expecting the Brownings but as I doubt their wintering at Florence I shall commit this letter to an American artist who is coming here this afternoon & of whom I hear much good. …
