… Wednesday Evening I went to Kenyon’s– He had not a party, but a few friends One of whom I was very glad to see– With Mr Browning the poet was his wife more celebrated as Miss Barrett also a poet Whose fame as such is sadly balanced by the infelicity of ill health– So that she lives all but the life of a recluse– There were also Miss Bayley & Mrs Chadwick wife of the Edwin Chadwick who has figured so long as the busy—overzealous & therefore unpopular agitator in all matters that concern Sewers and Cess-pools–
