I must once more thank you for your most kind & constant efforts in my behalf. “Fear not little flock” &c is often in my mind. …

Mr Lowell has just come from beautiful Italia only ten days since. He was 6 mos in Rome. Saw much of Browning & of Landor. The last he greatly liked. And he tells me Landor’s brother has writ a book, the “Fountain of Arethusa,” very good. The Landor family is wealthy. Lowell says Landor’s conversation is like those he (Landor) wrote. Browning is a very active, vehement talker. Lowell has brought home some fine Talbotypes of Venice, the best things possible of course to give an idea of that dream-like city. …
