My dearest Edward.

I received your letter of the 31st of January quite safe and I thank you much for it. You will be surprised to hear that Mr Feltham is dead! By this event our affairs are released from the perilous position in which you found things I think, but which allow me to say, I hardly think was to be assigned to the effect my letters produced upon Mr Feltham as they were anything but of an irritating nature.

I am delighted to find you are ready to sign the deed securing to me the whole of Mama’s fortune (minus the £1000.) and to you the whole of the West Indian property; I trust this will be speedily done—I shall be glad to join with you in exonerating the Executors. From all difficulty about the Bond for £700.

The sooner this is all arranged the better, and I hope therefore you will not delay writing to Mr Turner to authorize him to send you out a deed for your signature to the whole effect.
