My dear Barrett

I heard the other day that you had been in town some days– I have been waiting some months in hopes of seeing you & trust you will give me the opportunity before you go. By way of inducement I must tell you that I find I shall have some money to pay you– I have for a long time kept open the account of the personal Estate in order to wait for the appearance of certain bills to the amount of two or three hundred pounds which however have not appeared. This will make a balance sum, when done that due to you & as I am anxious to close every thing & put all my old papers with the fire I wish to pay it to you & will rely upon your saving me blameless if I shd hereafter be called upon– Can you find some day to see me & take the money. I have ordered Mr Melvin to copy out the account & you may look it over in five minutes—or do you prefer Moore looking at it– If so you must authorize him as he will charge you 13/s or some such sum for it. But it may be a satisfaction to you that he should examine the last account as he did the former ones– I am
