My dear Edward.
I think it is some time since I last wrote to you, and that being the case, I sit down pen in hand to concoct an epistle to you, more especially as my Aunt received a letter yesterday from Mr Turner in which he talks about throwing our affair into Chancery–
Now this is all folly and nonsense as the matter is as simple as possible and in my opinion can very easily be settled without the intervention of this fearful court. Both you and myself are agreed upon the |reversionary| interest in that property being made over to me, some £1,100 which is to remit to you. I therefore hope you will unite with me in endeavouring to prevent the measures spoken of by Mr Turner.
I wrote to Miss Sykes some few weeks back respecting a valuation being made of those articles, and exhorting her to be speedy in her arrangements. I have as yet received no answer to my request. Dublin is extemely gay at present, and I have been out a great deal. I have been to two drawing-rooms at one of which I was Presented. Also to the grand St Patrick’s Ball given at the Castle—it was a magnificent affair and I enjoyed myself not a little. As the season is not yet over, I am looking forward to a double amount of the balls & parties I have already been to. What are you doing with yourself? As you were so kind as to inform me a few Packets ago of your intended marriage, I beg to treat you with the same degree of candour, and therefore announce to you my approaching marriage. I will perhaps give you further particulars by the next steamer—and with kindest love
