You are doubtless already bearing your cross, and I would very much like to know with what kind of courage you endure it. I would also like to have news of all my Parisians and in particular of the Brownings, and I am knocking at your door to wake you up-if your disposition at least permits it, write to me. … The Brownings also remain in my thoughts. I would like to know whether Robert and his wife have already arrived or whether they have written when they would be coming– …
