My Dear Emily and Alfred,
I ought to have replied earlier to your kind letter of invitation to Farringford. … I have seen the Brownings in Dorset Street where they have a pleasant lodging and seem pretty comfortable, but they both hate England, and poor Mrs Browning is never well here. … I hear from the Brownings that Alfred’s book has had an immense sale; I am very glad of this. …
