The weather is now as brilliant as it was dull—indeed, nothing can be brighter. … Lady Monson and I gave a little dinner here yesterday between us—the Sartorises, Lord Holland, Count Cavour, George Sand, Mignet, Browning, &c. It was not as pleasant as it ought to have been. Lamartine and Tocqueville were both too unwell to come. We dined in the room we occupied when here. …
