Referring to two of his works, Woolner writes: “The statue of Lord Bacon has occupied me longer than I thought it would, besides this I have been doing a medallion of Robert Browning which took me fully a fortnight more! I was anxious to secure his likeness, as he is so seldom in England and it might be years before another opportunity offered.”
