Dear Surtees.

Your journey here will be very long & tedious, particularly for poor little Baby as he is not so strong as usual. I should be inclined to take advantage of the Biddulph’s offer—or what wd be still better to propose sleeping at Frocester one night– I am sure the Clarkes wd be delighted, & it is in yr immediate good– Get to Frocester on Monday & start by an early train on Tuesday morning, and then you would be here before the night set in. Mary is longing for the day of yr arrival. Loves & thanks to dearest Henta & Altham for their notes. How pleasant it is to think we shall meet & so soon–
