Do you know the Lyells appeared in this very Hôtel on Thursday having been here twenty-four hours, & hunting everywhere for us, & we going to the Hôtel York for them. Sir Charles we only saw once, as he was off for Pisa, but Lady L. remained here without him, & has been so good in coming to see us, when she has Brownings & Somervilles & Jamesons & everybody else to see. She dined with us, yesterday, & went to Fiesole & was perfectly lovely all the time. She told Mrs. Browning you were coming, & Mrs. B. has spoken twice to her of the pleasure she had in seeing you, & said there was hardly any one she liked to see so much. Please put that in your pipe & smoke it, & please make Lady L. understand, if you see her in Paris, that I am her devoted slave & admirer. …
