My dearest Papa,

I hope that you arrived quite safe today. When John had taken you to the Station, he took us out for a drive, & we brought home such a quantity of violets & cowslips! I am afraid that you will think this written a very bad letter indeed. I am a very stupid boy! Mr Winslow came here to speak to you this morning directly when you had gone. I was very sorry dearest Papa when you went away, I wish that you were not gone, but I hope if it will please God, you will come back again the day after tomorrow!
