Hope End

Friday May 28th 1819

My dearest Papa

I hope you will live to have many more of these happy birth-days and I hope that I shall always succeed in pleasing you on your birth-day, for I like to please dearest kind Papa, who is so kind to me. I hope that he will always be happy, and not find any grey hairs amongst his raven locks, for these many birth-days, nor either have any wrinkles in his blooming cheeks for I shall never like to see dearest Papa getting in his old age.

May this little letter do,

My dear Papa, to please you!

I am

your

Affecte Child.

Henrietta B Barrett
