Dear Miss Weston–

…How very much you will enjoy the opportunity of intercourse with Mrs Browning, the greatest poetess of any age—altho I wish for her own sake & for mine that she would polish somewhat more & that she would take some pains to clarify her meaning. Mrs Webb is a great admirer of hers & I have a particular regard & respect for her on this account. Still I regard Harriet Martineau as a much more wonderful & admirable & a much greater woman. When Miss Hunt appears on your horizon I will be obliged by your telling her that I am her perpetual debtor for her kindness in Florence. If she had been my sister she could not have been more so & without her assistance & guidance I would not have enjoyed my visit to the City of Flowers one half so much nor have had nearly such a pleasant recollection of that time. …
