SD2334. Diary Entry of Annie Adams Fields

Published in The Brownings’ Correspondence, 27, 341 (in part).

[Florence]

Saturday 4 [February 1860]

Passed the evening with Miss Blagden at the Casa Guidi. Talked sometwhat about Spiritualism and a good deal of the Brownings whose essences seem to be about one in that ghostly room. We had mistaken our night and left early with a promise to return Sunday evening.

Such a clock as there is shut up in that old book-case. A very spirit-clock bringing an odor of other spheres in its faint tones.

Publication: None traced.

Manuscript: Massachusetts Historical Society.
