SD2338.  Diary Entry of Annie Adams Fields

Published in The Brownings’ Correspondence, 27, 343 (in part).

[Florence]

Wednesday 8th [February 1860]

Miss Blagden called at 12 o’clock and drove with us to her home on Bello Sguardo. How we enjoyed her brilliant talk and pictures of her Villa life. Such sunsets and such noons such renewing of life’s mornings as seen from her home she needed not to describe. It entered in and took possession of my soul. Such a nature of robust and generous, nay lavish expansion breathes new life over mine and a prayer flows out that Charity shall enter in and dwell with me.

We went in to the Casa Guidi to see Mr. Browning’s studio and I walked up & down her bed-room!
