My dearest Sam
I must contrive to squeeze some good ink out of my bad pen, and some good sense out of my stupid head, which I fear will be a hard task; but nothing is too hard for my love for you to attempt, when I have any hope of pleasing you.
I must not, or will not the pleasure forego,
Of wishing all joy, my sweet Sam, to you!
I hope you will smile upon my letter
For I am indeed your affecte Henrietta
