My dear dear Fred,

I need not ask you if you have ever come home of a summers eveng from a ramble in the woods, with not only a bunch of sweet scented flowers in your hand, but your long feet fragrant with the pressed out juices of sweetness. … I wish you had sent me more than one copy [of Tuckerman’s Poems (Boston, 1860) for I want one myself & one for the Brownings—& one for Mr Landor– … I shall send the Brownings the book as soon as I can give it up. … I only wish you had sent me several for the Brownings are full of interest to see them– And Miss Ogle too is anxious to get a peep. In fact all my friends know of its appearance–
