My beloved Babes.
How will you jump for joy when I tell you that Papa has almost agreed to let you come to us; and if we find you well enough, & it is considered safe to do so, I trust we shall have the happiness of taking you home with us– Minny must write to me directly, & tell me what she thinks of this plan, & whether she thinks it would be adviseable to try Malvern Water for this Summer– I trust it may do good, and if it does not, it will be easy to send my dear child back to the sea– I am so happy at the thoughts of having her with me, that I am inclined to think this a very good plan, but as Minny knows more of your health than Mama does, she must tell me exactly her opinion about it—the change of air at any rate must do good– We shall set off home on Saturday week, & I should wish to have you in Town for a few days before we go to get your picture finished—but as we have bad colds both in this house & Grandmama’s, I do not wish to have you till Monday or Tuesday next, & the carriage shall meet the Coach to bring you to Baker St I know you & Minny will both jump for joy at this news, which indeed makes Mama so happy, that she could jump too—however if Minny sees any particular reasons, why you had better remain at the sea, I know I may depend on her telling it me—if not, my sweet puss, must be very busy, packing up her things & come to us on Monday or Tuesday, when I hope the colds will be gone–
Poor Grandmama Clarke & Bell have both been so ill with colds since they came that they have scarcely been able to get out at all, and I do not know whether they will be able or not to set off for Fenham again tomorrow. Your Brothers & Sisters do not know you are likely to go with them home, or I think they would be wild with joy– Bless you my darling. Tell Minny to write directly—
