… You will greatly approve the Browning Volume, I think. Between ourselves I fear I dont go quite so far as you in admiration—but it is an extraordinary intellect as well as wonderful fancy. Indeed the intellect overweighs somewhat too much—and there are some deficiencies in art. But he nobly deserves the place that I think people are beginning now more generally to respect that he is entitled to, than at any time I can remember during the seven and twenty years I have been incessantly praising him. And hearing other people as incessantly pronouncing him “unintelligible.” So runs the world away! …
