… Since Gabriel’s return to town he has been engaged upon three things. … 3. A subject suggested to him by Browning a month or so ago, and for which he was all agog at the time—Helen dedicating in the Temple of Venus a goblet in the form of her own bosom (there is some old story to this effect). He chalked out the design forthwith, and declared he would at once paint it lifesize; but has done nothing further towards that end as yet, and speaks now of doing first only the bust of Helen and goblet lifesize, and the picture at some future time. …
