… It quite horrified me the other day to know that the “Selections from Browning” had not gone to you. It has been a mistake at Chapmans. The book has been put up, and will go to you today. Browning, whom I told last night of my intention to write to you today, sends his kindest love to you, & he will write next week. Let me not forget to tell you that I shall not now let many days pass before I make some arrangement as to the review of Browning. I shall have to send it back to you, I fear, for some few modifications and changes—but I hope to get it into either the Quarterly or Edinburgh, and with this view you must return it promptly. (Time enough, though, as I think again—for our earliest chance I fear will be the midsummer quarter.) B is following up the Selections by a new Collected Edition of all that he has written, in three Volumes, but he will tell you all this. …
