My dearest Addles. As I find the Coach went today, instead of tomorrow, you cannot receive your portraits till Wednesday, when it is by no means improbable that the painter herself may have the honor of presenting them to you– at any rate, my sweet Pussy, you will have the happiness of seeing dearest Papa on that day as you may perchance have heard already– Sadly disappointed are we not to have had a line from you today, as I really [am] extremely anxious to know how the poor Dairy Maid is– I conclude however that your letter has been sent too late for the post or some such disaster– Ba has been very comfortable all today; quite as much so as yesterday– I have been sitting drawing all day at the bottom of her bed, & she has been talking merrily, & enjoying a poor wood pigeon for dinner– Sam has got another beautiful Canary for you, but do not take any notice of this till it arrives– Kisses to all my pets– In great haste, my beloved
