Dear Mr Barrett
I received your note duly containing the check for £52.10 which was all right—and immediately answered it, addressing my letter as you directed– But I have received another note from you this morning, showing that you had not received my first– Ere this I hope it has arrived but to make assurance doubly sure I send these few lines–
I take for granted as you enclose me a check that you wish me to make the bust in marble—& I shall be very happy to do so. But pray be sure you want it—& do not jump in the dark– Remember you have not seen it, & it may not satisfy you—& please remember that you are always free to do as you like—senza complimenti–
The weather here is cool & pleasant no rain—and not much sun– Farmers scold, but this they always do no matter what the weather is– Browning & Pen are well & going a good deal about– B’s poems have a great & deserved success–
