Naples

1864 Oct. 27.

This is my last day at Naples. I breakfasted with Craven who afterwards ransacked his father’s books & library. There are many valuable things amongst them. … Then there is a volume of highly curious m.s.s. tracts of great scandals & trials & executions which happened at various times in Rome amongst which I found a narrative of the murder of his wife by Count Franceschini some m.s.s. tracts in reference to which were found by Browning who is engaged on a poem on the subject. N.B. to communicate this to him.
