My dear Mr Barrett

Your bust is finished & awaits your orders. Will you be kind enough to let me know into whose hands I shall place it, & where I shall send it and your wishes shall be at once complied with. I earnestly hope that you will not be disappointed in it, & will find it not utterly unworthy of the subject. Of course it being from memory, many traits have been lost, but I think you will consider it on the whole as fulfilling at least my promise.

It may be pleasant to you to know that I have had an order for a copy of it from one of your sister’s great admirers, Mrs Hooper of Boston. To this I suppose you could have no objection & I have accepted it.

You have had a disagreable winter as far as the weather is concerned, but the Spring has now in the last few weeks come upon us in all its beauty, & makes us forget all its wintry antecedents. The City has been consumed to over flowing with strangers & now every body is taking flight, the ceremonies of Holy week being over.

If you will place £50 to my credit at Barings Brothers & Co. we shall be all square in money matters.

Mrs Story, my daughter & the boys all unite with me in kindest remembrances &
