Bacchus, aid us with thy mirth,

Minerva, all our souls inspire,

To hail my brother on his birth.

Nor let affections voice be still,

Nor let thy brothers tongue be mute,

And while the sacred Muses pill,

On Violin Cello, Harp, or Lute.

May you, my dearest Alfred know,

That I’m your most affectionate Bro.

But hark! I hear the dinner bell,

So now my dearest boy farewell.
