My dear Mr Milsand,

I have got a very good Stereoscope for Claire, and hope she will be pleased with it.

Could you not run over with her one fine morning, that I may give it her? Monday or Tuesday– (Monday, if possible, because on Tuesday I go to the dentist’s, though I should be home in time.)

I see that Robert’s letter was delayed by the accident—it was written on Wednesday–

1. During the period in which this letter could have been written, 16 December fell on a Saturday in 1854, 1865 and 1871. In 1854 Milsand’s daughter was still an infant; and by 1871 Sarianna was living in London with RB. The accident refers to the collision in the English channel between the mail packet Samphire and an American barque, during the night of 13 December.
