My dearest Addles.
Your present of a rose was like yourself very sweet & pretty, & I cherished it the more coming from you– Where the Cake is which you threatened to send Ba, I cannot guess, excepting that your Papa eat is unconsciously. I wish my dear Chicken all Ba’s pains could be as easily relieved, as your lamentations about the Dove, I should not now have to become a species of apothecary as anxiously looking forward to the success of a Medicine as |learning| does to your future success in life– I will do what I can to replace Dovey by a little Canary which shall rival with its soft notes the dulcet ones of Mr Headley to Jane. I mean to go over on Tuesday to dinner to Hope End, so desire Tom to take the Pony over to Ledbury to be there at 8 oclock in the Morning– If you love me have some snacks ready that I may bring them back with me– Kiss Alfred for me, & dearest Stormy– I hear that Georgy is promoted to the office of Cupid or presiding Divinity over Bobby & Jane, & that he stands Marker with his Bow & Quiver whilst they are playing for love–
