The Duke of Argyll comes early to ask if A. will dine at the Club. … Mr. Browning comes as we are dressed for the wedding breakfast at the Boynes. … Lionel’s two wishes for London were that he might see Mr. Browning & Mr. Gladstone. He has had the first & now we cannot refuse letting him dine with us that he may have the second. …
