My dear Sir
I returned from town Yesterday Evening & found yr Letter & the Pedigree– I will take care of the latter, & return it to you in the Course of next week after having carefully gone through it– The first thing I notice is the wide difference, indeed total dissimilarity between the Armorial bearings, both being registered in the Heralds College– But then it is in the highest degree probable that Jamaica Moultons were relations, & as you & I undoubtedly had one, or more, blood relations living in that Island it is reasonable to conclude that you & I are related to one another—the only question to be solved is the degree—which I shall be very glad to assist in finding out– I have a Brother living in London (37 Chancery Lane, removed from No 18 opposite Carey Street, where my father lived & died, about 75 years ago) he has some family documents also, which I will get & let you know the contents– Returning to the Jamaica men, I never heard of my Grandfather leaving any children, except my father, George (or John) of Montego Bay, & the officer in the Army, serving in India, & at the Capture of Chinsura–
My father was buried in the Church in Rood Lane, Finchurch St. & probably my Grandfather who was an underwriter at Lloyd. Perhaps the Register of the Church might give some clue–
However, we will join in the chase & do our best—& hoping to see you here
