[mid-May 1867] [1]
My darling Mary,
I am engaged both this evening and tomorrow, but I could put off this evening’s (to take tea with Miss Bullocks) if you cannot go without me, otherwise I would rather decline with many thanks– Tomorrow we are to spend the evening with my cousins the Dixons. We are to go with the little ones, to an early tea at 5 o’clock and at 8 they have asked some friends to meet us– They have begged me to bring you, and I had intended writing to Aunt Boo to ask if she would kindly send you there at 5 o’clock– How is your cold. Take care of yourself– My kind love– Excuse a scrawl
In haste
Your affec Mama
A. Altham
My niece Charly is staying here–
