SD2868.  George Eliot to Maria Congreve

As published in The Brownings’ Correspondence, 32, 356 (in part).

Biarritz

16 January 1867

We think it curious that among the many persons who have talked to us about Biarritz, the Brownings alone have ever spoken of its natural beauties; yet these are transcendent.

Publication: The George Eliot Letters, ed. Gordon S. Haight (New Haven, Conn., 1954–78), 4, 332–334.
