Dearest Janie,

When I said I would come in on the 8th it never occurred to me that next Wednesday was the day …

My photograph book looks so beautiful: it shows them off so well. Ristori has been placed on the first page. She has no pendant. Browning & Dr Hooker are to follow. Do write for one like yours of Mr Browning … I have also placed Story the sculptor in the book. [1]

Publication: None traced.

Manuscript: India Office Records.

1. A separate list of 21 names (of the subjects in the photos) accompanies this letter.
