My darling Mary,
I find it impossible to get to you. Will you write me just a line, to say how you are. I saw Miss Berry this morning, and from what she says, I fear you have not been very well– Has your cold been more troublesome, or has it been a case of late dinners and the necessity for a little of your old friend Dr Gregory?–
My Father has taken cold, and is not quite so well, as when I first came to him I am sorry to say. I had a nice long letter from dear Papa latterly. He and darling Edward were quite well.
Mrs Addams is going to ask you to spend a day with her on Wednesday, and the little ones, are to go to meet you– I shall ask to know whether I shall see you there– Tell me when you write–
Burn this scrawl when you have read it, I have been obliged to write in great haste–
