Dear Mr Barrett

I write to inform you that your bust of Mr Browning is quite finished and awaits your orders– I should have forwarded it to you before I left Rome but I did not know where you wished to have it sent. If you will drop me a line here, I will immediately give directions to have it sent to you to any place & in any way you order.

We are here at St Moritz for a few weeks taking the iron waters & baths– The place itself is to me most disagreeable but the waters are good & I hope we shall all be benefitted by them– However, my own feeling is that the bad fare, & greasy German cuisine, with dinner at 12 o’clock very nearly if not quite counteracts the good effects of the waters—and I shall be heartily glad when we can leave the place– We hear nothing spoken but German & it never seemed to me so uncouth– I am sure the Houhnyhymns of Gulliver talked a pleasanter language as far as sound goes–

We spent a couple of weeks before coming here at Cadenabbia in the Lake of Como—and enjoyed it very much. After those romantic mountains & that charming lake it seems like exile here—and we are generally rather cross–

Pray when you see Mr Browning give him our love & tell him how often we talk & think of him– I direct this note to him not knowing your address
