December 28th 1821.
To my dearest Storm
on
his birthday.
_________
Hail happy day hail Winters blustering blast
Which holds in frozen bonds mild nature fast
Hail for this day to dearest Storm gave birth
And added Stormy to our joys on earth.
Then let this day to joy and mirth be given
Which brought so dear a gift from bounteous heaven
And in thy bosom may each day succeed
To plant a flower and to pluck a weed
For all have faults although their virtues be
As Great as those which we behold in thee.
