My dearest Henrietta

As your birthday is come I must write to you[.] I hope that you will have a very happy party in the cottage[.] I suppose that Stormy will be your butler and Ge<orge> your footman. Ba said that she would have a ball on her birthday. I sup<pose you> will have one. I shall write to her I <know> what fun you will have on your birthday. I wish I was with you to join and play with you. I will be at Hope-End on Mama’s birthday. Bro has got a littel [sic] cold so that he did not get up very early, he had a nice cup of caster oil. I hope that you will excuse me writing such a short letter, but I must wish you best love to all. Good bye your affectionate Sam.
