On her birthday

Hail honest Muse and the story tell
How happy I will be when dear Mama is well
How thankful I am, and always will be
And I hope ma chère mère will always love me
2
This is the merry month of May
And all Nature looks so blithe and gay
And the birds do sweetly sing
While rejoicing at return of Spring

This is indeed a joyful day
And it is the first of May
And also our dear Mama’s birthday
So come my boys let’s haste away
4
Away yon little Daisy says, where shall we run?
And sweetest Septimus says, lets have some fun.
So let us go, in favour of these little boys,
That’s always happy when we make a noise.
