Dear Son
I recd yours I applyd to Kitty as you desired me but no purpose, they being disap[p]ointed in the Moneys promisd them, and will be for near Six Weeks to come, so that they cannot well serve my necesatys as I and they could wish, altho I have had something tolerable, but not to do my answer well, I should have answered you sonner, but Kitty told me that she exspected Mr Russell up every Day, he is set out from Exeter, then they expectd he woud give over a Draft, but of what Date that may bear is uncertain but be that as it will, you shall have a Draft on him for £30 or £40 that you may depend on, last Night by Russell Waggon I sent you a Flitch of Baccon, weight 51li @ 6½d like-wise two Duzn of Buttr wch wase promisd me good, wch wase by great chance I found such a thing at this time of the Year,That is 8d |per| li I have sent you a Chine of Baccon. I believe it salt enough, that youd see, the piece of Ground is not sold with the Inn, for we made reserve of it with an Intent to Build a little House on it which cannot be but a little House, it being but a small piece of Land. I should be glad to hear from Billey[.] I find by last Nights paper that Adml Barrington is amongst some of thickest of it. I sopose he is with him (God bless him)[.] We shall begin sowing Peass in a few Days, and Oats and other Grain will follow close to it, haven’t sold six pennyworth of any kind this 5 W<ee>ks, disapointed in Threishers, and what we Threish is in order for Sowing, which we have prety well beforehand[,] we have prety deal to Threish especialy Wheat, have 3 good Ricks out[.] Mrs Longman intends seting out for London this Evening by the Diligence, Neighbours all very well in generall, so no more at prest God Bless you, with my Blessing hope you are both in good health, as I am at prest except some pains betimes, Reuben has got a very bad Cold. Complymts to all old Aquaintaince[s] wh see em.
