I think that it is equally impossible for me to express in Italian as in English, my most delightful and most beloved mother, my sentiments and to tell how my heart pounds when I think how most happy this day is to me—& dear—and in brief to tell how dear you are to me. But I hope that I already know from the Past ever beloved Mother your days tranquil & happy as deserved and my heartfelt prayer that to me both taught with divine help so that I might give and be worthy of your esteem & love, as, dearest mother, I will esteem & love you always, both in feeling & in gratitude,
