Beauteous and bright again the rosy spring

Shines forth in loveliness, and seem to throw

Over the verdant earth her shining wings

Like widowed beauty rising from her woe.

Streams, forests, hills again luxuriant shine.

And beauty lights again the glowing scene,

The genial sun and fragrant showers combine

To add fresh lustre to, that brilliant green.

But deeper feelings swell our conscious hearts,

Thou the vain joys which oer the landscape rove,

While on this day a father’s name imparts

The grateful memory of a fathers love.
