My dearest Papa

I hope this day may be full of joy for many years—and that we may all try to be as good and wise as you are, that we may thank you for all your kindness and care of us, which make us love you better every day, and I wish that we may deserve that you should continue to love us which you cannot do if we are naughty—

Come Ceres! Spread the glowing fields with corn

To please our farmer that he may not mourn!

Your affectionate Child

George Gooden Barrett
