My dearest Arabel

I will not lose a post in thanking you for your amusing letter, & at the same time assuring you of my inveterate anger for your unpardonable saucy hint to me in your epistle to Ba, I give you warning Arabel if you attempt again to transgress I shall not forgive you so quickly.

I must now dearest Arabel give you a better account of our dear Sam, which I heartily rejoice to have in my power to do, he is certainly much better, his cough considerably decreased, & his fever much abated, but for all this Doctor Nuttall still finds it necessary to apply more leaches which I greatly fear will weaken him sadly, but I trust that after this application it will be no longer necessary to continue such lowering measures.

I was indeed thunderstruck on the receipt of dearest Mama’s letter to find that she had taken flight to Ireland, & at the same time delighted at it, as I think a months absence from the school room will be of an infinite service to her. I am desired to present Granny’s best love to you & to intreat you to continue your studies with double ardour, whilst Mama is away. Pray make Henny work hard & tell him I expect to hear from him every post, I am very anxious to know how many questions <***>
