My dearest Mama
I hope you will forgive me for not writing to you before Papa has begun hay making to take away his wheat Bro and Sam is gone to Hastings which I deeply regret But I suppose it is all for his good So we must submit to the will of God Henry trent has come here to dine to day to bear Papa company which I am sure you are very glad of it for I am very much I am very glad you are so happy Ann tells me to tell you that Septimus is a very good boy indeed So I send you a little piece of his hair to put you in remembrance of him Henry neck I am glad to say has not got worse So I suppose it will soon get well every body sends their very best to you all. Give my very best to Sir Thomas Butler and Tom and Richard Your ever affectionate and attached Son
