My dear Edward

Inclosed is a letter which was sent to me at this place with several others by the packet. I do not mean to write you so long a letter this time as the last I sent you. But I am sorry to say that my brother writes to me he has been under the necessity of drawing to the amount of a thousand pounds more than he expected in order to pay off the contingencies which your uncle left unpaid & to wind up as far as he could all the accounts to the time of your coming of age. You will see that the parliament is soon to be dissolved. This will make my motions for the next three weeks rather uncertain. I must therefore beg you not to fix on your visit to town till you hear further from me. Mrs S is here with me & desires to join me in best regards to Mrs Barrett, I am My Dr Barrett
