I have listened to the mournful tales of some who are fatherless, to the tales of some, who think they are happy, because they have a Parent’s arm to point to them the pleasant path leading to their home, it may have been a pleasant path, but does it lead to a pleasant home? I feared, & pitied them. But I turned & looked with joy on mine, a pleasant path, where I can read “This is the way to a happy home”– Nor do I traverse it by myself, or it would not be so pleasant, I have around those I love, & with them him who directed me to it, my Father so much beloved.

This is the day that blessed us thus, the day that gave us all this happiness, for which my heart endeavours to praise its Maker, & may He keep us in the path we have begun in joy, that we all may meet in joy when we shall be better able to praise Him in that happy home[.]
