My dear Lady Knowles.

One line of thanks I must offer you for your kind condolence, so acceptable on every account.

With a thankful heart I can assure you that my mind is as resigned to the divine will, as I can expect, & that my health is certainly improving.

Long must the pang of losing so beloved a Parent be deeply felt, but so calm & resigned was her own mind, & with so little suffering did her gentle spirit pass away, that our grief for her cannot but partake in great measure of the same submissive & soothing character.

Forgive me for saying thus much to one whose kind interest I should be ungrateful to doubt.

With our very kind regards to yourself & Family, believe me
