SD735. Canon Riego to Mrs. Easthope

The Canon Riego had the pleasure yesterday Evening of receiving the Note of Mrs Easthope with the enclosed Letter of her Brother, & the beautiful lines lamenting the Death & commemorating the |prized relict| of his Sister in Law by a Lady, unknown to him, of whom Mr Stokes, whom the Canon had the pleasure of seeing at Worcester, had spoken & praised much, but not as much as the Canon did found them & greatly admired.
The Canon shall be much obliged to Mrs Easthope for sending her thanks to her Brother, with his best compliments & regards, as well as his gratitude for the Writer of the Lines—
The C. is much pleased in hearing that Mrs S. was pleased with |Adoorn’s| lines
The C. begs to take the Liberty of enclosing 3 Copies of his Catalogue of books for sale requesting Mrs Easthope the favour of sending on to her brother, when she may have a good opportunity; and recommending the other to her Son (where the C. considers now staying—enjoying the Holy Days at home), that he may have the goodness, when returning to Cambridge, to give it to some amateur or Dilatteneti [sic] of foreign Litterature, and the third that Mrs E. may keep it, and recommend to some amongst her more intimate acquaintances who may be friend of such kind of books—
And wishing to Mrs E. much mendement in her delicate health, with kind remembrances for the young Ladies, the young Cambridge Scholar, and with all his friendship for Mr E., remains always anxious to show her his sincere & particular attachment
